The Prague 9 district is home to one of the oldest Prague breweries. Set down in the historical annals, we can read that on June 1st, 1860, the endowed courtyard located at number 1, Vysočany and containing the brewery, was assigned to the Dominican cloister of St Giles on the basis of a bill of exchange. In 1883 the brewer Karel Spurný leased the Vysočanský brewery and in 1897 he was awarded an official licence to conduct the trade of an innkeeper in the house at number 1, Vysočany.
Another important milestone was reached in 1908, when Karel Spurný bought the brewery and its grounds and garden from the Dominicans. Beside the brewery was an extensive brewery garden with a lake fed by waters from a branch of the river Rokytka. On either side of the lake, which had a small island in the middle, stood tall trees, while across its surface swam majestic swans. In wintertime the lake became a source of ice which could easily be placed directly into the brewery cooler.
Part of the gardens were arranged in the formal English style, where a hexagonal pavilion and brick building, used as a puppet theatre, stood in the midst of beautiful coniferous trees. Beer production ended in 1914.
During the post-war period, the brewery began to fall into disrepair and slowly disintegrated into ruins.
The events of November 1989 brought new hope to this extensive property. Thanks to the social changes that occurred, the brewery is now enjoying the benefits of its new ownership.

Hotel capacity is 113 beds in 42 rooms. Room structure is as follows: 5 single rooms, 15 double bed rooms, 13 three bed rooms, 6 four bed rooms, 3 five bed rooms. Room prices are inclusive breakfast. Each room is equipped with shower and toilet. There is a restaurant in the hotel building. Half board is possible.

By bus
Take Bus No. 100 to Zlicin underground station (B-line) and take the underground from Zlicin station to VYSOCANSKA station.- Take Bus No. 119 to Dejvicka underground station (A-line), take the underground at Dejvicka and travel to Mustek station, where you will transfer to the B-line and proceed to

VYSOCANSKA station (in the direction of Cerny Most).
Get out at Vysocanska station and take the Prosek exit, walk down the hill along Freyova street, keeping to the left side of the street. Hotel Pivovar is approx. 250m from the Vysocanska underground station.

By trainFrom the main train station (Hlavni nadrazi) Take the underground C-line from Hlavni nadrazi station to Florenc station (in the direction of HAJE), change to the B-line at Florence and proceed to the Vysocanska station (in the direction of Cerny Most).

From the HOLESOVICE train station (Nadrazi Holesovice)
Take the underground C-line (in the direction of Haje) and proceed to Florenc station, where you change to the B-line, and proceed to the Vysocanska station (in the direction of Cerny Most).

From MASARYKOVO train station (Masarykovo nadrazi)
Take the underground B-line (in the direction of Cerny Most) and proceed to Vysocanska station.
