Location

The Filip boarding house is situated in a quiet area near Petřín, the only hill in the centre of Prague. There is a fine view of the Prague panorama from the boarding house, and yet it is only 10 minutes by a MHD bus from the Prague Castle and circa 15 minutes from the Prague centre. It is surrounded with a large spectacular garden, which can be used as a place of rest or where you can have a BBQ with your friends. Parking is right in front of the boarding house in an enclosed parking site (the Filip boarding house owns 7 of the parking places).

The cosy boarding house underwent an extensive reconstruction in 1991 and now it offers accommodation in 2, 3 and 4 bed rooms with own bathroom and its total capacity is 25-33 guests. The rooms are equipped with SAT-TV, radio, telephone and a safe. The rich breakfasts are served in the form of a buffet in the winter garden, which provides a fine view of the greenery. The garden is open for you also during the day and you can sit there with your friends.

The main reception is open daily 7:00 - 24:00. You can check in from 14:00 (unless another room is vacant). You have to check-out on the day of departure by 11:00. If you plan an earlier arrival or departure, you can leave the luggage at our reception. After the arrival, you are given your own key, so you can come and leave the boarding house at any time of day or night.

The breakfast (included) is served from 8 to 11 a.m. (may be also later or earlier if requested) in a pleasant dining room with a fine view of the surrounding garden. The breakfast consists of a ham, salami, pates, eggs, cheese, butter, honey, jam, Nutela (chocolate spread), bread and white and dark pastry, cornflakes with milk, yoghurts, coffee, tea, cocoa, juice. For an extra charge, a warm breakfast can be served (ham and eggs etc.).

You can rest in the quiet garden, from where there is a beautiful view of the whole Prague. You can also have BBQ in the garden with your friends.

Prague Castle

Due to its architectonic value and historic meaning, the Prague Castle is one of the most important objects in Bohemia. It symbolises over a millennium of the Czech state history, it used to be the seat of Czech princes and kings and later even the presidents. Since its foundation it has developed into the present monumental complex of palace, office, clergy, fortification and housing buildings in all architectonic styles. Petřín view-tower : Prague 1, Petřín Orchards, Lesser Quarter The view-tower of Petřín is one of the main landmarks of Prague. This is why it is one of the best known Czech view-towers at all. Anyway, one cannot miss the striking similarity to the Eiffel tower in Paris. Yes, the builders from the Czech Tourist Club were inspired by Mr. Eiffel at the World Exhibition in Paris and decided to create a similar monument - within the limitations of the finance available of course.
The view-tower is situated in Prague, at the Lesser Quarter. You can get to the view-tower from the Filip boarding house by a 10 minute walk through a beautiful park.

The Petřín maze : Prague 1, Petřín Orchards Right at the Petřín view-tower there is also a well known mirror maze, loved especially by the children. Just like the view-tower, this building was also constructed for the Jubilee Exhibition at the end of the 19th century. In one of the rooms there is a panorama picture of the battle with Swiss army on the Charles Bridge in 1648.
Cable way You can also get to Petřín by a cable way, which is a part of the city transport system. For a twelve Crown ticket it will take you from Újezd via Nebozízek up to Petřín. It operates daily between 9:15 and 20:45.

Strahov monastery The royal canony of the Premonstrate Order in Stahov is one of the oldest preserved cloisters of the Premonstrate Order in the world. Since its foundation in 1143 its continuity has actually not been interrupted. Not even fires, Hussite wars, religious wars or the communist regime managed to cancel this institution. At several periods the members of the cloister could not live in the cloister itself and had to live elsewhere, but in the end they always came back to the cloister walls and carried on.

From the Ruzyně International Airport: Take bus 119 and get off at the terminus Dejvická. Through the subway underpass go to the opposite side and leave through the gate named “Suchdol”. There is a bus stop. Take bus 217 and get off at the stop “Hybšmanka”. The boarding house is right at this stop. The whole journey takes circa 40-45 minutes.
From the Main Railway Station or from the Holešovice railway station: Take subway line C, at the Florenc station change to line B and get off at the Anděl station. Get out of the subway through the gate leading to the bus station (at the front part of the train). Take bus 217 and get off at the stop “Hybšmanka”. The boarding house is on the opposite side of the street, about 100 m far in the direction of the bus route. The whole journey takes circa 35 minutes.
From the Florenc Bus Station: Take subway line B and get off at the Anděl station. Leave the subway through the gate leading to the bus station (at the front part of the train). Take bus 217 and get off at the stop “Hybšmanka”. The boarding house is on the opposite side of the street, about 100 m far in the direction of the bus route. The whole journey takes circa 30 minutes.
From the Prague centre:  - subway line "A" Dejvická, bus 149 and 217, bus stop Hybšmanka.
- subway line "B" Anděl, bus 217, bus stop Hybšmanka.
- from the Prague castle walk past the Petřín view-tower.
By car:
From Pilsen – when you have left the highway, follow the signs towards the city centre, go past the Motol hospital and after 500 m turn right to the Břevnov field, then straight along the Podbělohorská street up to the T-junction, there turn left to the Pod stadiony Street. After circa 500 meters there is the Filip boarding house (on your left). From Karlovy Vary - follow the signs towards the city centre and to Strahov, from the Vypich junction go straight on along the Patočkova Street, after circa 1 km turn right to Strahov through the Bělohorská Street, keep straight on, follow the signs leading to Strahov – turn right to the Vaníčkova Street, go past the Strahov Stadium, then along the main road around a small bus station, go straight through the next crossing, 100 m from the crossing there is the Filip boarding house on your right. From Brno – drive on the circle line towards Smíchov, through the Mrázovka tunnel, through the Strahov tunnel and at the tunnel’s exit turn left (to the Patočkova Street), take the first left (Na Malovance Street), through Vaníčkova Street, drive around the Strahov Stadium, keep on the main road, go along the small bus station, drive straight through the next crossing (to the local road), 100 m from the crossing there is the Filip boarding house on your right.
